Canucks give goaltender Dan Cloutier permission to leave team
(from the Associated Press, 1/7/02)

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- Starting goaltender Dan Cloutier was granted a leave of absence from the Vancouver Canucks on Monday to deal with some personal matters, a team spokesman said.

Cloutier approached Canucks management Monday evening in Buffalo to discuss leaving the team. It was approved, and the Canucks recalled goaltender Alex Auld from the Manitoba Moose.

Backup Peter Skudra will start Tuesday night against the Sabres.
