The season wore on. Bob grew continually grumpy with each passing week, as Martin Biron and Mika Noronen got more and more playing time instead of him. After his stunning success in the season opener, Bob was unjustly benched October 7th, where he was to play the mighty New York Rangers.
Shortly before the game, Bob gave Taylor a note written on Hello Kitty stationary to pass to Lindy during the team's lunch. It read:
pretty pleeze mister ruff why aren't you playing me after what i did
for the team when we went against vancouver dont you think i deserve a
start
bobby
(circle yes or no)
Bob received a no in short time in the form of blood painted on a pig
carcass and a punch in the face from Rob Ray.
Bob asked Taylor to casually ask Lindy why he wasn't being played. Taylor sauntered over to Lindy's table, trying his best mid 50's television cowboy imitation.
"Hey uh, Lindy, Bob asked- I mean what Bob said- I mean why can't I play for Bob. No, I mean why aren't you playing Bob after what he did in the first game?"
"What? He never played in the first game! To tell you the truth, I don't think we actually signed him. We just let him hang around out of pity."
"Are you saying that marijuana adversely affects memory?"
"No..."
"So what you are saying is..."
"Rob?"
Rob Ray promptly removed Taylor and placed him upside-down next to Bob.
"Bob," said Taylor, "I don't know how to tell you this but..."
