The World Keeps Changing

by Dave Deal

I’m the writer of your dreams;
There’s great pain wove in my words
Dreams are real, reality’s a dream
Trying to write words you’ve already heard

Questioning decisions I’ve made
Searching through the clues from my past
Long for things the way that they were
But I knew, they’d never last

The world keeps changing and I just can’t keep up
The world keeps changing, I don’t want to be left behind
The world keeps changing, but I don’t want to live life too fast
‘Cause as Long as I have you, That’s as long as I want it to last

Don’t know why I do things that I do
Had my share of life’s contradictions
Don’t know why I ever left you
Just to search for my own convictions

And I’ve done things, I’m not too proud of
And I’ve looked back wondering, What If.
I still had you, What if I had the only girl in my life
I ever loved; well, maybe one day you’ll come back

The world keeps changing and I just can’t keep up
The world keeps changing, I don’t want to be left behind
The world keeps changing, but I don’t want to live life too fast
‘Cause as Long as I have you, That’s as long as I want it to last
That’s as long as I’d want it to last
