Spanish Eyes

by Dave Deal

I thought I heard her voice
Whispering my name
Though she’s been gone for years
The memories remain
Her presence feels so real
My loneliness is gone
And hoping she’ll come back
Keeps me going on

Spanish eyes, oh, so beautiful
Spanish eyes, I didn’t understand
Was I unwise to leave her all a lone
To take on the unknown
To make it on her own
Spanish eyes

If I had seen things then
The way I see them now
If I could have one wish
I’d change the past somehow
It’s easy to forgive
But so hard to forget
If time can heal the pain
My time has not come, yet

Spanish eyes, oh, so beautiful
Spanish eyes, I didn’t understand
Was I unwise to leave her all a lone
To take on the unknown
To make it on her own
Spanish eyes
