Lonely Town

by Dave Deal

You spend time alone but all the time you’re waiting
Sitting by the phone; your mind is contemplating
She said she’d call you for sure
Still praying that she does what she’s never done before

You pace the floor; keep looking out the window
Check the clock once more; you call her but she’s not home
You see it’s happening again
So, go back and daydream about the places you’ve never been

He’s just eighteen and he’s already tired of living
‘Cause people been taking everything he’s giving
He knows where he is bound
Where everyone goes when they’re down
Lonely Town

A smile that thrills; entice you with her eyes
Her empty heart; believing all her lies
Everyone else seemed to know
But the love in his heart just wouldn’t let her go

He’s just eighteen and he’s already tired of living
‘Cause people been taking everything he’s giving
He knows where he is bound
Where everyone goes when they’re down
Lonely Town

In Lonely town, no one understands you
They all laugh and say act like a man
But when a woman sets her sights on a young man and all that he has
Could ruin all his best laid plans

He’s just eighteen and he’s already tired of living
‘Cause people been taking everything he’s giving
He knows where he is bound
Where everyone goes when they’re down
Lonely Town
