It's Getting Late

by Dave Deal

Some men bring us into this life
Some men teach in our schools
Some men plan our society
Some enforce the rules
Some men preach of a better life
Just send a buck or two
Some raise cattle and some farm the land
Lets not forget to thank them for our food

Some men wear a white collar
Most of us wear blue
Some men work in the factories
Some in the mines far, far below
Some men slave all day in the hot sun
For your family, you do what you can
Some men work eight hours everyday
And at night, entertain in a band

Some men ruin our water
Others pollute the air
Some men try to clean it all up
Some men dont seem to care
Some men are elected on promises
Theyll straighten up this place
Then put all of our problems in a pile
And they throw them back in our face

Were all in this together
Everybodys searching; we all make mistakes
Our lives wont last forever
And they say, we control our fate
We most fulfill our dreams before its too late
And its getting late
