He's A Cowboy

by Dave Deal

He likes to rope; he likes to ride
He has his hopes and he’s got his pride
He’s just in town for awhile
But he still has to pay his dues

He likes to make all the pieces fit
He don’t complain and he don’t quit
He likes to be on top
No, he doesn’t like to lose

‘Cause he’s a cowboy
Yeah, He’s a cowboy
But he can’t stay too long
‘Cause his spirit longs to be free
You can’t stop him
Don’t try to stop him, oh, no
‘Cause his heart is back in Texas
So, this cowboy’s got to leave

He was taught, it’s always ladies first
He drinks a few to relieve his thirst
He believes in standing up
For the side that’s right

Many men have tried to slow him down
Just to pick them selves off the ground
He don’t look for trouble
But he won’t turn from a fight

‘Cause he’s a cowboy
Yeah, He’s a cowboy
But he can’t stay too long
‘Cause his spirit longs to be free
You can’t stop him
Don’t try to stop him, oh, no
‘Cause his heart is back in Texas
So, this cowboy’s got to leave

He works long hours, ain’t afraid of getting’ dirty
Goes into town for a little while
He’s packed his bags because he knows he’s leaving early
He leaves them with a smile

‘Cause he’s a cowboy
Yeah, He’s a cowboy
But he can’t stay too long
‘Cause his spirit longs to be free
You can’t stop him
Don’t try to stop him, oh, no
‘Cause his heart is back in Texas
So, this cowboy’s got to leave
Yes, his heart is back in Texas
So, this cowboy’s got to leave

Inspired by Emmitt Smith while I watched the Cowboys win the superbowl.
