Subject: List [TM] faq

Although the introductory paragraph of The List [tm] seems to function well enough in most respects, a few questions not covered in it seem to have come up. I would like to put them all to bed right now. Perhaps the maintainer of The FAQ [tm] could put something like this into The FAQ [tm] so we can keep everything straight with the new recruits.

The List [tm]: a faq

Q: So what's this list I keep hearing about?

A: That's The List [tm], friend. It's a compendium of the worst slime that are on the internet, who would disrupt or bring to a halt altogether our efforts to Pave the Earth [tm], if they had the power to do so.

Q: So everyone on The List [tm] is an Anti-Paver [tm] ?

A: For the most part. There are a couple of people who actually requested that they be entered in The List [tm], and we have done so. These people will be the most favored of the members of The List [tm], and will be accorded the rank of Hydro Pit Boss [tm], or appropriate equal rank, and will crack the whip over their lesser neighbors on The List [tm].

Q: So anybody against paving the earth is on The List [tm] ?

A: No. Unless they have defiled the holy ground of .alt.pave.the.earth, they will not be put on The List [tm]. The List [tm] exists to punish those who have wasted all of our time by posting foolishness to our headquarters, as it were. So if your mother/father/brother/sister/friend/ bitter enemy/whatever says to you "You know what? HyperCars [tm] blow a choad!" or something equally blasphemous, the List Administrators [tm] don't want to hear about it, because this individual does not qualify for induction into The List [tm].

Q: How do I get someone placed on The List [tm] ? Is there a vote or something?

A: No voting is needed. No seconds, or secret ballots, or any of that crap. Simply alert a List Administrator [tm] and we'll take care of the rest.

Q: Who is a List Administrator [tm] ?

A: Good question. There are three List Administrators [tm], who all share power so as no one person has complete control over The List [tm].

Q: I just have to say "Put so-and-so on The List [tm] ?"

A: Not quite. Please forward the offending message to one of us, and it should speak for itself. While in a perfect world at least one of us would catch every offending message that makes it's way to apte, wonky newsfeeds, jobs, and other nuisances may prevent this. So if you will send one of us the actual offending document, we will be sure to take care of the rest of the procedure.

That's it. Let a List Administrator [tm] know if you have any questions or problems.
