· I've just found that I've read only 3 of the last 47 posts to PF. It's an unusually small number, for me; I usually open about 1/2-2/3 of them. · I wonder whether there's not enough discussion, on PF these days, and perhaps too much in the way of blasts of information. I recognise that I too do this, though I try to make my opinion clear, by either a comment at the top or by my selection of an excerpt. · I see the _purpose_ of this list as discussion (of opinions & info). · This below is one of the two I did open (the other is: "Britain: Reports admit this is a war for oil"; by Chris Marsden). · At the bottom is: UK Observer: Anthrax attacks the work of US extreme right - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - At 18:26 26/10/2001 -0400, Tom Wheeler sent-on to PF: http://www.infoshop.org/inews/stories.php?story=01/10/26/0502277 A Way Forward? October 16, in the heart of downtown Toronto, was the second time I have witnessed people participating in a large-scale non-hierarchical, cooperative organization. When 2,500 people converged on Nathan Phillips Square, at the insane hour of 5:00 a.m., no leader had issued an order to assemble. Almost every facet of this huge mobilization, from planning to execution, took place almost completely outside the capitalist and corporate system, and was organized entirely non hierarchically. The main catalyst for this event, the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty (OCAP), operates on a shoestring budget -- the cost of organizing the fall campaign was estimated at around $20,000. The money came from individuals and from organizations like unions and NGO's. Transportation and housing were arranged on a pay-what-you-can basis, or simply offered for free. This decentralized, nonhierarchical network of free labour went off without a hitch. Everyone who wanted to go was able to, and everyone who went had a place to sleep. ... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - At 09:13 29/10/2001 +1300, Alistair wrote to the GV-NZ list: Subject: [GV]Anthrax attacks the work of US extreme right [UK Observer: ] >"Neo-Nazi extremists within the US are behind the deadly wave of anthrax attacks against America, according to latest briefings from the security services and Justice Department.
