lists only 18 Nov.
· However, they can be seen on adjacent nights, near those times {I
believe- maybe at a somewhat different height above the horizon; 1/365 *
(24*360) = 24 degrees. Horizon-to-zenith(straight up) is 90 degrees}.
· The _rate_ is maximum on: Sunday morning, Nov 18th:
4:00 - 6:00 a.m. in New York
1:00 - 3:00 a.m., & 3:00 - 7:00 a.m. in Los Angeles
But they're still there the day before and the day after the maximum.
According to an interview with an astronomer I heard on the radio a week ago
· The spinning Earth plows through the debris. "The Leonid meteor storms
happen when Earth passes through clouds of dusty debris shed by comet
55P/Tempel-Tuttle when it comes close to the Sun every 33 years. This year
our planet is heading for close encounters with four such clouds. They
bubbled off Tempel-Tuttle in 1699, 1766, 1799 and 1866."
