· You hear (there and here) political comments that I interpret to mean:
 "We mustn't do anything to spook or depress The Markets, so we have to ..."

· It reminds me of making obeisance to certain gods, e.g. Greek Classical,
Norse, of nature (e.g. storms), and so on.
