· More from the midday news in NZ: "Alan Greenspan (Governor of the US Federal Reserve Bank) is not in a panic, and The Markets would like him to be in a panic." - commentator in a New York brokerage, to the Radio NZ reporter. · You hear (there and here) political comments that I interpret to mean: "We mustn't do anything to spook or depress The Markets, so we have to ..." · It reminds me of making obeisance to certain gods, e.g. Greek Classical, Norse, of nature (e.g. storms), and so on.
