[pf] mud between the toes.

· When you notice that you've changed from reading _most_ of my posts, to
reading only the occasional one (whether you're a regular poster or rare or
never), please let me know (my general address is: d1v9d@bigfoot.com , if
this IHUG one doesn't work).

· When I was 16, 48 years ago, I found people were listening to me less
than I liked, so I shut up unless I had "something worth listening-to to say".

· It's worked well for me, but there's not enough feedback (in the normal
way) on a list like Pos Futures for my automatic adjustment to work properly.

· Today, Friday June 1, is going well for me so I thought I'd share it.

1. Yesterday morning my wife posted an application for $3000-worth of
shares in a NZ medium-windturbine manufacturing company, deciding to shift
from "fastpost" to "courierpost" to ensure it got there by the deadline, 5
PM today. I checked the Track-n-Trace automatic answerer in the last hour,
and found that the application had arrived; the computer also read out the
letters of the person's name who signed for it. So I'm relieved.
I have owned no stocks or shares since the early '80s, when I was about
to buy shares in a NZ food producer (Watties) but it was taken over by the
multinational Heinz. I am with Adam Smith in believing that an investor
prefers to build up his own country with his capital investments. Heinz has
done many things right, like expanding its tinned organic food lines
(produced in NZ), but I still don't like the idea of profits/dividends
leaving my country. ("country" is geographical, not political, though
identical in this case.)

2. After finishing my environmental news report:
http://davd.tripod.com/GrRR-010430_titles.html#top earlier this week, I got
onto completing my submission, due today as well, on what strategy the NZ
government should follow to move toward a sustainable and efficient energy
future; its stated goal.
I've got most of the way through that (with some unexpected points about
the need for coal-fired electricity generation in the short-to medium
term), and will get it done and sent off (by e-mail) this morning I expect.
I'm "wasting time" writing this note to you!

3. We had enough sun yesterday that, when I found my daughter monopolising
the computer to do her assignment most of the day, I got down to the
10-month-old job of connecting up my solar PV panels; I had not started
because of a belief that the supplier of them had to do the installation
for the warranty to be good. I got most of the way, and might finish it
this afternoon. Part of the reason, this last few months, is my annual
increased tendency to depression in this least-sunny part of the year. But
I'm feeling fine (partly boosted just now by a ginseng drink).

4. (Finally!) As I started this, I had just come back from getting our
regular order of locally-baked bread - I enjoy bringing the minimum life
requirements of bread and milk home to the family - and was pleased that,
after a frosty night*, today's sun had warmed up the wet grass I was
walking through bare-foot, and that even the watery mud that squished up
between my toes was luke-warm. |* Midwinter in 3 weeks|

· So I thought to myself "I know some people who would like to hear about
this!"
