has, at the end:
Calgary Transit is being recognized for its leadership in renewable energy
with the “Ride the Wind” project, resulting in the first wind-powered
public transit system in North America since the days of sailing ships.
An innovative new partnership approved by City Council in February, 2001
will see C-Train customers ‘Riding the Wind’ by September.
Under the partnership program with VisionQuest Windelectric and Enmax,
VisionQuest will install 12 additional turbines at their farm in southern
Alberta near Pincher Creek and sell wind-generated power to Enmax, Calgary
Transit’s supplier of electricity.
The entire C-Train system will be powered by wind-generated electricity
resulting in no pollutants being released into the environment.
