[pf] 2/3 of tully's and Tom Wheeler's posts are arriving by e-mail

· I've spent some time this morning going through the 19 MB of Positive
Futures posts between 1 July and 30 Sept that have arrived here.
This started when I found I hadn't received even one of tully's last 4
posts (prior to ~10 PM GMT Sunday 7 Oct).

· The list below is for my pick of people posting to PF, and for the period
1 July to 30 Sept. 2001, compares the number of posts showing up on the CSF
archive with the number from the same person that have arrived here, via
e-mail. The last two are startling.

· Accuracy is quite variable (for example, for a while I got something
Eudora called a malformed attachment with most of Kaleopono's posts, which
I think were created after he sent them - at first I allowed the duplicate
to arrive (in text form), but more recently have been trashing them).

· But generally my count shows the numbers are within the 2-3 that is
likely with my method (I use Word, and e.g. replace <tr> with <tr> and it
tells me how many replacements there were).

· So IMO there's something very fishy about:

of tully's 99 posts, only 65 have turned up here, and

of Tom Wheeler's 309 posts, only 200 have turned up.

· I'm looking into those numbers further; in counting my e-mail copies, I
counted the number of times (e.g.) Tom Wheeler occurred in the .toc (table
of contents) document that goes with my Positive Futures .mbx (mailbox), in
my Eudora file for July to Sept. I haven't yet looked to see whether at
least most of his posts stored on the CSF archive are also labelled as
coming from Tom Wheeler.

{· the commas below are so I could put the table into a spreadsheet as a
.csv - comma-separated-values input document; I probably won't bother.}

· I suspect I'll have to take this up with our ISP (IHUG), after I'm more
sure of the data. D.
