Delurking once again, and going through the message file:
Again, pardon the bitter tone of this post, and no offense at all intended
to Mike Warren. We already have this in New York (see Mike's post below).
It's called "finding a roommate because the housing market is out of your
reach, financially." It's usually not anybody's first choice, and prices
are still not cheap even with a roommate. However, on principle, I agree
with the concept, when there's some planning put into it.

re. home design. There are some positive signs even in the mainstream
housing industry. Many upscale apartment houses have been designed with
unrelated adults in mind. Instead of a master bedroom and a guest bedroom
and a bath, you can see two equal bedrooms on opposite sides of a common
living area.
