· I've talked about "The Big Lie" (I first heard about it being used in
Hitler's Germany, but I now realise that the powerful have been doing the
same thing for hundreds, probably thousands of years), the most common
method of brainwashing. Here's a more insidious version.

· Children generally believe teachers and other care-givers, so they
believe that the extension of advertising into American schools means that
those things advertised are "normal", "good", "what we should eat or buy".

· Their parents (and many teachers there) probably believe this too.

· I have a very low opinion of the American culture as it's developed since
about 1940. I'd even go so far as to say that the whole culture, as seen
from outside, has been blaring "The Big Lie" so effectively at the rest of
the world, that 90% of everybody in the world now feels that there's
nothing really wrong with The American Way, and a majority of that 90%
would like to emulate it (if they can't at the moment).

· I've sent the above, with Diane's and Molly's posts, to GV-NZ, with the
title:
The Big Lie, by Coke and US advertising.
