You are your own person...you have your own high standards...you stick to them and could care less how the "play in Peoria." It is quite the pity that business and industry don't recognize how necessary this mindset is in not only getting the "job done" but in keeping on the cutting edge. "Squarepegs" think "outside the box" and "color outside the lines" this is what keeps businesses ahead of the curve... The status quo will be the death of American business and innovation. I think that by being out of the "mainstream" we are becoming prepared for the harsh fiscal and economic realities that are going to jolt the sheeple when the stark awakening comes. Our own creativity and far sightedness which have created problems for us in business, industry and academia will ameliorate the economic decline for us as the rest of America wonders what the heck happened? Just for the record...I am not being smug...just realistic...I am working toward being self-reliant...I try to utilize the minimum of resources (although David in NZ has me beat by a country mile.) I have had the proverbial rug pulled out from under me and almost lost everything that I had but I persevered...have maintained and even prospered on less than 20% of my previous income and despite multiple physical disabilities. I know what it is like to have you world "rocked" and have to pull yourself up by the seat of your pants. Fortunately I already lived a very simple life so I was able to adjust to the socio-economic losses better than the average "Jane/Joe" will be able to do.
