Wavelengths of X-rays are shorter still, so their quanta with lots of energy. She decided a few weeks ago to upgrade this 1200 sqft house by lifting it and rotating it through a right-angle, so the big plate-glass windows that have faced the road since it was built nearly 40 years ago will face north, (that's towards the sun). And then doing it up inside and outside. · Actually it's the living-room corner that will nearly face north: the shop-sized plate-glass sliding door (and adjacent same-sized plate-glass) on the 30-ft end of the house will face North-East by North (33.75 degrees), while the fixed same-sized plate-glass main window on the 40-ft side of the house will face North-West by North (326.25 degrees clockwise from North). -{Should have been: North-West by West: 303.75 degrees clockwise from North} (Those names come from the set of names added when you go from dividing the compass rose into 16 to dividing it into 32: the points of the compass.) · This is properly called house-moving. · Ours is a tiny lot (or section): 1012 square metres, 10888 sqft, 1210 sqyd and narrows from the road to the bit at the bottom that I described earlier. So with the current 3m and 5m set-backs (sides and road-frontage resp.), there's just enough room for this house, on the up-hill near-road end of the section. Checking this on squared paper was this morning's activity, before my wife took the end-of-year exams she had been marking in to her Physics Department, leaving on the last bus of the morning, 9 a.m. · An enjoyable start to a thunderstormy day.
