                                    OUR COLLEGE
Arya Samaj was founded in nineteenth century by Maharishi Swami Dayanand Saraswati. He was identified with social and moral revival of nation at that time. A group of staunch Arya Samajists and some prominent persons of the society decided in 1885 to achieve goals of Maharishi Swami Dayanand in enlightening the society with modern education and accelerating the pace of freedom movement and fighting against the policies of British Govt. tactfully. They formed Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College Trust and Management Society and got it registered in 1885 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. This was the beginning of a movement popularly known as the D.A.V. Movement.
The first institution of Society was established on June 1, 1885 at Lahore (D.A.V. School) and Mahatma Hans Raj was its honorary Headmaster. The school was converted into College in 1886 with Mahatma Hansraj, the then Headmaster of the School as its Honorary Principal. He served the society on honorary basis with humility, dedication and missionary spirit. The movement was nurtured, among others, by eminent public men and great patriots of those times like Lala Lajpat Rai, Lala Lal Chand, Bhai Parma Nand, Lala Dwarka Dass, Lala Durga Dass, Principal Sain Dass, Bakshi Ram Rattan, Dr. Mukund Lai Puri, Bakshi Tek Chand and Pandit Mehar Chand. The sapling that was planted in 1886 soon blossomed into a huge D.A.V. Organisation and within a span of a few years, a chain of D.A.V. Institutions sprang up with emphasis on Indian thought and cultural values.
After the partition of India in 1947, this College was rehabilitated in Ambala City. Great stalwarts like Principal Bhagwan Dass, Dr. G.L. Datta, Lala Suraj Bhan and Prof. Ved Vyasji did yeomans service in its rehabilitation, growth and progress. Presently Padamshree Shri G.P. Chopra is heading this great organisation D.A.V.
