| 1.)brutal greetings BRAD! whets up with omnium gatherum
?
pls. introduce the members and give us a short info bout the band. Brutal greetings to you Ryan. In 1997 drummer Johno and guitarist Rocco formed omnium gatherum. Original bassist Justin was next to join and the line up was complete later the same year by vocalist Brad. Our first demo was recorded late March 1998 and we played our first live show 2 weeks later. We've only had 1 line up change and that was in April 2001 when we recruited a new bassist, Paul from Deaths Boundaries. We are currently playing shows to promote the CD and are writing songs for our next release. 2.)u guys have already released a promo cd which is a very remarkable piece of death metal, and now the debut cd entitled RECTIFYING HUMAN REJECTION, so how's the response of this great album from those death metal lunatics worldwide? r u guys receiving orders from Europe,u.s., south America, Asia etc. Cheers for the kind words about the Promo 99! It was circulated predominantly as a demo tape which lead to the collaboration between us and Life Fluid distro & prod. for the CD, which has been out for about 6 months, so things are really starting to get going now as word spreads. The response is consistent in most countries which we are thankful for. 3.)how can u best describe ur music? for me its brutal death metal in a technical way, with a unique style of course ! You pretty much described it well enough there dude!! Extreme & Intense Technical Death/Grind. 4.)one thing I noticed in AUSTRALIA is that most bands in this country plays unique and original style when it comes to death metal ! how come and where do u guys get the inspiration to create such music? We carnt speak for other bands but for us it is a culmination of many factors. We don't care about what is popular or try to into some sort of "scene". We play what we find interesting and we all have many different ideas so it comes out a bit weird at times. We all listen to a lot of different music and are always trying to do something that "WE" haven't done yet. 5.)pls. describe omnium gatherum when ur on stage ? do u play cover songs ?how many gigs u have done so far? omnium gatherum live is straight to the point brutality. We have a backdrop but no other stage props or costumes, we are who we are, take it or leave it. We don't play any cover songs live and we have played 42 shows. 6.)which city has the craziest crowd in AUS. It's hard to say because we have not been to all of them. Anywhere could go off if the vibe and the timing is right on the night. 7.)how do u guys earn a living? do u have day jobs and what do u guys do aside from recording and playing live shows? We don't really have many other interest other than music. We all enjoy watching good movies, cricket, cartoons and porn. None of us do any extreme sports or anything too energetic, it's music all the way!!! Brad is a Toolmaker and in training to be a leading hand at his work. John also works in a factory making wall ovens, Paul is a graphic designer for a local paper and Rocco is the proud father of his first son. 8.)how often do u guys rehearse? Two times a week, occasionally three as a band, but we also pratise individually. 9.)can u pls. describe the metal scene in AUS.?can u compare the scene in to U.S.,EUROPE,SOUTH AMERICA specially BRAZIL! We would prefer not to comment on any so called "scene". 10.)I really admire a lot of bands down under, I think u guys have a strong scene there, great bands like,ALCHEMIST,DISEMBOWELMENT,ABRAMELIN,MISERY,ARMOURED ANGEL,ENCABULOS,MISCREATION and of course omnium gatherum he..he..he.. did I forgot something? any new or old bands that u can recommended us and worth to be mentioned? Intense Hammer Rage, Psycroptic, Alarum, Earth, Virgin Black. 11.)aside from death metal , do u guys listen to any kind of metal or non metal ! Most definitely!!! We don't live our lives in one mood so it's only natural that we listen to many different types of music, metal and non-metal. Some stuff we listen to may be laughed at by "one-eyed" metal people. They may think were not "true" but they are not the people we care about anyway so we don't care!! Our scope is very broad and our personal taste is exactly that ....Personal!! 12.)BRAD, pls. give me a short list of bands and there album that u could consider ur all-time favorite and a must for every metal freak! which band had caught ur attention lately ? We all like different bands. Here is a list of our favorite bands and albums. Of corpse there's more, but this is what we can fit into this interview. Brad 1), Suffocation - All albums, 2) Obituary - All albums, 3) Cryptopsy - Whisper + And then you beg, 4) Death - Leprosy + Spiritual + Individual, 5) Deicide - Deicide + Legion. Attention catchers - Alarum, Soilwork. 13.)did u guys have the chance to play live with any huge metal acts, or play in a huge metal festival? We have never played with an international band. Unfortunately the opportunity rarely occurs. We have been involved in most of the bigger metal shows featuring interstate bands. 14.is there any chance for omnium gatherum to have a tour in Europe,us. or elsewhere in the near future ? To play overseas is something that we have all aspired to do. In the near future it is definitely out of the question, but it is something we hope our career will lead towards. 15.)pls. give us a reason why every death metal fan buy ur album? We carnt do that. It would be as bad as a religious freak trying to shove their believes down your throat. We carnt tell people to listen to our album or tell you it's the best album in the world because for someone that likes it there is someone that doesn't like it. So if you've heard of us or have heard of something interesting about us or something we've said in an interview, then you might want to listen to our album. We think that you wont be disappointed. Were happy with it for a debut release. 16.)have u guys heard about the underground metal scene here in the PHILIPPINES or any countries here in SOUTH EAST ASIA ? which band ?or is it possible to see u guys play a gig in a 3rd world country in the near future ? Thanks to the "Brutally Sickness" comp tapes we have heard many sick Asian bands. If someone makes a decent offer we would definitely consider it as an option. 17.any upcoming plans ? merchandise? We have a new batch of T-shirts for sale.... $20AUS/$12US post paid. They are black short sleeve with white print. Our OG logo is on the upper left front, Extreme and Intense on the sleeve and Rectifying Human Rejection on the back. Other then that we are writing material for our next CD release. 18.)thanx for supporting this extreme and infamous zine BRAD! hope u had a good time answering this shit ! pls. say something for ur death metal fans here in the PHILIPPINES and the rest of the world, Thanks for your time, interest and support. We appreciate it very much!! Cheerz to all who either appear in this zine or read it!!! You rule!!! Keep the underground alive!! Cheerz, beerz and bleeding ears. |
