DIRKUMNAS VS. NOCTUARY
1)Hail,how are you guys?Any tours?

Hails, I am fine, how are you? Tours? No tours right now, just a few shows
locally(Southern California) and out-of-state(Texas-Sacrifice of the Nazarene
Child Fest). We would like to tour sometime though, whenever time and finances
permit.

2)I will ask you about your history because its already been pasted, may i know
whats the meaning of your band Noctuary? Can you explain it well?

Ok.. that didn't make too much sense, so I'll start my answer following your
'comma'. I don't know if I can explain "Noctuary" well, but I can explain it. It
is an archaic english word for a nighttime diary or journal of events.
Basically, it's a journal where you write down things that happen in the night.
I was first made familiar with this term from a book by the author Thomas
Lighotti. It's basically a book of short "horror"/weird fiction stories.

3)Are you having some new line up?

Yeah, we here at Noctuary are always having some new line up. Rob Alaniz joined
the band full-time, on drums, back in december of 1999(or Jan of 2000)... and
Chris Price joined the band on guitar in June of 2000. We recently replaced our
last bassist and Steve Nelson joined in the spring of 2001. We're pretty stable
now, I don't think we'll have anymore lineup changes.

4)About your new material, can you give us some description about the musical
assualt?

Our new material is more expansive... kind of melding influences from heavy
metal, death metal, black metal, and contemporary classical. We experimented a
bit... and I think it came out pretty successful.

5)Do you have some influences?

Yeah, we have some. Mostly from bands like Iron Maiden, Ozzy, Judas Priest,
Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, Rotting Christ, Abigor, Dismember, Ved Buens
Ende... shit like that.

6)Can you make an ultimate playlist?

-Megadeth:Rust In Peace, Killing Is My Business
-Ved Buens Ende:Written in Waters
-Michael Jackson:Bad
-Rotting Christ:Non Serviam
-Dismember:Like An Ever Flowing Stream, Pieces
-Iron Maiden:All up to Seventh Son
-Ozzy:1st two records
-Slayer:All up to(and including) Seasons in the Abyss
-Various composers:Schoenberg, Messiaen, Debussy, etc.

7)What can you say about the riffs of Trey Azagthoth?

They're wild and whacky and full of fun and good times.

8)If one day Trey will give you a chance to be in a band will you accept the
offer?why?

Maybe, if it was a side-project and if he lived closer to me. I can't say he's a
big idol... although I'm a big fan of the B and C recordings of Morbid Angel.

9)Are you against God?why?

I can't be against something that doesn't exist.

10)Do you like some Black metal bands?what bands?

I like bands like Rotting Christ, Abigor, Primordial, Marduk, Emperor... stuff
like that. I also like more cult shit like Krieg, Thornspawn, Weltmacht, Kult of
Azazel.... but I don't really listen to black metal as much as I used to. I'm
kind of tired of the stupidity that exists in the scene. I'll just stick to the
bands I know and the ones that are doing stuff worth my time.

11)Please speak about the current global terrorsim? What are your thoughts?

I guess my thoughts are the same as everyone else's... FUCK TERRORISM. Obviously
the
US is kind of going about things the wrong way with the bombing of Red Cross
facilities, etc..
. but hopefully we'll get our heads straight and focus on the real target.

12)Hey about your new recording, how did the recording process go?

It went fine. Thanks.

13)Can you explain the difference of your new material from the old ones?

It's more experimental, more influences taken from more sources. We're kind of
leaking out of
the boundries of black metal and turning into more of a just extreme metal
hybrid. The older
material was more straight forward melodic black metal.

14)Whos responsible for the art work ?

Darin Winn is the man responsible for most of our artwork. He did the covers for
the demo,
1st album, and the back of the 2nd album. The 2nd album's cover was done by
James Reyes.
 I really admire their artwork.

15)Your lyrics deal with,Satan?

That's so "church lady"... No, our lyrics do not deal with Satan. I don't
believe in any gods...
or any ethereal, named force of nature.

16)What can we expect of Noctuary live-show?

Headbanging metal madness.

17)Do you have some special goals for the band? What are those...

We don't have any special goals aside from recording and performing.

18)Do you have some merchandise?

Just cds and shirts. Right now the shirts are sold out. The cds we have out are
For Salvation...,
When Fires Breed Blood, and Where All Agony Prevails(demo re-release).

19)Before we end any last words to all your supporters?thanks......

Thanks and hails for your support. Thanks for the interview... it was spiffy!
