DIRUMNAS PROBES ABHORRENCE

1)Hail,how are you these days? 

ABH> All ok here, just rehearsing the new line up and working to ABHORRENCE new efforts. 

2)Let me start with this boring question, can you tell us the infernal history of your band? 

ABH> Ok, the band was formed in 97, by me and Fernando. Later we?ve called Kleber Varnier to join us handling the bass. Nowdays Kleber no more make part of the band, the new member bassplayer/vocalist is the frontman Marcello Marzari that have joined us to stand on the warfare of blasphemous extreme metal! Since the begining until here we?ve recorded two demo-tapes, "Ascension" in 97, "Triumph In Blasphemy" from 99 and at last the debut full length album "Evoking The Abomination" in this year. 

3)Who decided to name your band? Where did you get this word Abhorrence? 

ABH> When choincing a name, I've decided for a word that represent well our music and feelings, so ABHORRENCE was the most representative for it. As you must know the word means hate, aversion... 

4)Is there any organizataions that you or the members of Abhorrence involved? for what cause? How did you find you self about it! 

ABH> We?re not make part of any organization or any other shit like this. 

5) Ah, I wanted to talk to you about Krisiun and Funeratus since they are from Brazil. I wanted to know your thoughts on these bands and what they are doing now adays. 

ABH> Oh great man! Cool know about your interest for these bands. We are friends of all them and I think both are killer bands . About Krisiun, nowdays they are working hard, playing like insane day by day promoting the newest album around the world. About Funeratus, they had finished the recording sessions of the full length album "Storm Of Vengeance". Keep on about these bands! 

6)Can you give us the description of your band musically? 

ABH> Musically ABHORRENCE is pure, brutal, fast Death Metal. 

7)Is it true that, for every album to take, a new dimension to the bands style? 

ABH> I think every new album there a different challenge, so we?ve trying to improve the skills and the style in every ABHORRENCE release. Anyway we are the same guys, with the same spirit and hunger to play Death Metal. If you get a listen in our previous records, you will feel what I mean. 

8)Any influences? 

ABH> Our biggest influences are Morbid Angel and Slayer, recently bands like Krisiun and Angelcorpse also are source of our inspiration. I must said you the true Metal bands had influenced us to be playing and moving with ABHORRENCE. 

9)Can you make a top 10 of your life time favorite albums? 

ABH> We?ve apreciate many albuns since the cult old acts until the recent hellish assaults. Well anyway I will try highlight some albuns for you then: - Reign In Blood; - Altars Of Madness; - Black Force Domain; - The Inexorable; - World Downfall; - Legion; - Darkness Descends; - Pleasure To Kill; - Ace Of Spades; - Hell Awaits... 

10)About the band Morbid Angel, any comments regarding the riffs of Trey Azagthoth?

 ABH> Personaly handling the guitar, I have Trey as a direct influence. So to me the guitar riffs, solos are amazing. Regarding the riffs, it?s the most originals in the Death Metal scene and the solos are skilled as well. 

11)How often does the band rehearse? 

ABH> Nowdays we?ve rehearsing 3 to 4 times for week. I think for a band playing extreme death metal this is very few time, but we?ll try to increase often to 7 days on the week. This is a good way to increase the speed, skill and tightness of the band. 

12)Ah, about the music does the band create the music by just letting it flow naturally or is it a more planed out approach? 

ABH> When writing songs, we create the riffs and drum beats naturally, but we?ve planed a lot to make a mighty structure to the songs. You can see that our music not are just an entrangled of tunes. 

13)What are your thoughts concerning the current terrorism in the US? Are you happy about it? 

ABH> We are sad for it, to ABHORRENCE somehow the things has going down in the US tour due these attacks... I think that all religious fanatism will meet the war, so those damned bastard religious terrorists must die and find the hell! If you see well, the world and humanity is decaying for the shit called religion. 

14)Are you against your country?or are you antichrist? 

ABH> We live in a religious country, where the financial conditions are bad, anyway Brazil is an amazing place, maybe the best place to live. Really the things here not are so easy, but it is my home, so everyone as me must belive and fight for this country to conquer respect and deserved conditions. 

15)Your lyrics deal with? 

ABH> On ABHORRENCE the lyrics have a offensive position, with a blasphemous anti-christian thoughts, there are our ideologies, belief, our own faith!!! it is impossible for us write something in other sense, the lyrics and sound as well come from our life here, is something natural and personal. 

16)Please, speak about the metal scene in your place? 

ABH> Here have many promissing bands, also many zines, mags, fans. About festivals, they?ve ever happened but not have "good" places to play, the Death Metal bands here ever play in the most dirty hole, with poor instruments,... Somehow I think that to an extreme Death Metal band, here is the right place to live! In general sense the metal scene from Brazil has coming better in relation to some years ago, the bands here has working serious and has conquered the deserved place in the worlwide metal scene. Anyway the scene here still have to improve a lot. 

17)What is the future of Abhorrence? Can you elaborate some. 

ABH> We hope to live doing what like and belive, keep playing in the name of most bloody extreme metal style, stand burning high the flame true Metal been on the stages of all countries, and just keep releasing albuns of extreme demonic savagery. 

18)I think you are into metal scene since long time,right? any comments about this actual metal scene(Blackmetal, the underground new wave of death or the new school death,and grindcore bands, Satanism, lastly nazism)? 

ABH> Sure, we have 25-29 years old. So personaly we are in metal over 10 year yet. The only comments are, I dislike these bands that turned out their cheeks to the roots, mainly those that use eletronic parts within the music, things with samples, keyboards are a all great shit to me! I just like the raw Metal made blood, spitit, guitars and drums. This days I?ve listening the raw CD "War Cult Supremacy" from Conqueror and I feel much more energy in this type of sound. I must said you Death Metal as well all other metal styles always will have good and bad times, but also always will have there those that stand fighting for the true means. Well, so I hope that we are doing our parcel with ABHORRENCE for that!!! 

19)Hey,I want this to be answered by you,what do you think of the Swedish (Childish?) death metal? 

ABH> As well in every scene around the world, there also have good and weak bands. I just think that there the scene is very well supported. 

20)Any merchandise?

1)hail!!the unholy crusade!!how are you guys? 

*Hails! Here it is just great! We have just finished the recording of the new album "Angelgrinder", and we are writing songs for the next one already. 

2)hows the band's line up?is there any morbid thoughts about it? 

*The lineup is: Thomas Backelin-vocals and guitars Micke Backelin-drums Anders Backelin-bass Fredrik Wester-guitars morbid thoughts? well we are morbid creatures.... 

3)I will not ask you baout your band history but may i know hwtas the reason why the other member is out of the band? 

*The main reason why Pepa af Vassago quit Lord Belial was that his work took almost all of his time... 

4)tell me about your new line up,how does it goes? 

*See answer #2. It goes really well and we are satisfied with the new line up. 

5)can you describe your new material from the previous one? 

*The new material is more extreme and brutal. There are no female vocals on this one but the flute is still there...I still think the fans will recognize the typical Lord Belial touch in the songs. 

6)can you tell me about yourself outside from the band? 

*When we are not playing or rehearse I work as a tattoo-artist, I have my own studio and I also work for another studio every now and then. I like to drink beer with my friends on my sparetime and that's quite often :) 

7)any future plans for the band? 

*We will continue writing songs for the next album and do some live performances, and in april 2002 we will go on tour with Satanic Slaughter. 

8)how did you came up with the name lord belial? what does it mean? 

*Belial symbolises the north and we just like the name and the things it stands for. 

9)do you like morbid angel?what can you say to them? 

*Morbid Angel is one of my favorite bands! They are really great! 

10)what black metal bands do you like? 

*Darkthrone, Marduk, Burzum, Emperor, (old) Mayhem, Isengard (nor)...etc....it's too many to mention them all...And I also listen to "non-blackmetal" bands like Angelcorpse, Nile, Krisiun, Kataklysm, Root, Entrails.... 

11)are you into satanism?why? 

*I don't consider myself as satanist, I am not bound to anything, I don't worship anything, I don't crawl for anyone. I don't feel that I need to believe in anything but myself.

 12)whos resposible for the lyrics?and it deals with ? 

*Thomas writes most of the lyrics and they are dealing with the war against christians, muslims, jews etc... 

13)tell me about the song writting process of lord belial?

 *Thomas and Fredrik do all the riffs and put together a "base-song", and then we are arranging it together in the rehearsal studio. 

14)Is it true that, for every album to take, a new dimension to the bands style? 

*Yes, but it is nothing we do with purpose, it has just been like that. 

15)do you like to create a hyperblasting kind of black/death metal? why? 

*Yes! But also slow and powerful parts is important to get something to compare the fast parts with... 

16)any influences? 

*Well, the influences are many...but no one special that we would like to duplicate or try to sound like....but most of the music we listen to give some influences i think... 

17)what can you say about the metal scene of today? 

*There are too many bands that sound like shit but still they got a record deal just because of their image...it's fucking sick that you can get a deal without even some good songs... But within a few years i think the metal scene will cleance itself... 

18)do you find yourself listening to non-metal music? 

*Nope 

19)any comments about those alternative bands from US? 

*Don't know a shit about it...
