One of the ‘Southern birds’.  The brightest star,   a, is somewhat isolated from the main pattern; the most celebrated object is k, often called a Chpheid even though it is strictly speaking, a W Virginis type variable.  Pavo includes 6 stars above the fourth magnitude:
