(Abbreviation:  Her).

 

A large but no means brilliant constellation, commemorating the great hero of mythology.  The most interesting objects are the red supergiant a and the globula clasters M.13 and M.92; M.13 is the brightest globula in the northern hemisphere of the sky, and is surpassed only by the southern w Centauri and 47 Tucanæ.  Hercules contains fifteen stars above the forth magnitude:
