| Trigger: The CFX and many gamo models are marketed as having a 2 stage trigger however this isn't the case. What they call the first stage is nothing more than the travel between the trigger and the sear actually starting to engage one might call it play. Once this play is taken up there is a lot of tension required to actually fire the gun as it is not smooth but kind of hits a wall before firing with a sudden clunking finger jerk action enough to easily throw off a longer shot. This is by no means the only air rifle on the market like this and this is a typical trigger accross the gamo range. To fix this I installed a custom made trigger blade from CDT called the GRT-III which both lightened the pull, made it fully adjustable and made it a genuine 2 stage trigger were the entire length of the trigger pull moves the sear in one fluid movement this helps to bring the groups down but also makes the shooting experience more enjoyable. The CDT GRT-III trigger is gold anodised aluminium not rolled steel sheet so it also looks great as well and has fully adjustable stages. I'm giving CDT my recommendation the only drop in replacement trigger blade to suit many gamo models, it's seriously that good and great value. |

| Bipod / Front Mount: Ok, I initially put on a front tactical mount to attach the fold out bipod however due to the double recoil action of a spring air rifle it makes accuracy a shocker, I mean pellets shoot up 3" - 4" higher when resting on the bipod than resting it on your palm. This in mind the bipod makes for easy photo shooting and great looks. I'd leave the bipods to charged air and co2 rifles. The mount I attached can also support things such as laser pointers (such as I have) and torches. Accuracy and what pellets work best? I have tested a variety of pellets in my Gamo CFX and have images of the best results. I shot these groups under equal condiations at 20meters, bench rested the gun on a table holding the forend. Please select a pellet below for results. EXP - Winchester Supreme - RWS Super Point Extra - RWS Meisterkulgen - Gamo Pro Magnum - Gamo Rocket - Gamo Raptor PBA Gold - Pro-Pell - Beeman Silver Bear - Beeman FTS Other: Just a side note to be aware of, it is best to use a silicone oil in air rifles so that the seals in the piston etc are not damaged by oil or petroleum based products. Some of these non silicone products can explode under the pressures created by air rifles and may also do damage. |
