| The moon over the henge. Beautiful, isn't it. These pictures were all taken on october 26th, a few days before Samnain, or All Hallow's Eve. This is one of the holidays celebrated by the religious groups that have reappropriated Stonehenge for their celebrations, partly based on it's planetary connections. Oddly enough, I won two free tickets from the Magic Tour Company to go see this and took Christy - a friend I've known since we took Shakespeare together at Iowa State University. | |||||||||||

| I'm absolutely fascinated with this picture. The moon you see in the background above the rock shows much clearer in my larger (better) resolution picture on my puter. Go figure now is when I start being considerate about page loading times. Anyway, this is the stone that the sun rises directly over on Midsummer. I thought it was interesting to note the direction of the moon in relation to this stone. Incidentally, the henge is to the left of the picture. It also reminds me of 'Finger Pointing to the Moon' which is a title of a book by a chap named Osho on his interpretation of one of the Upanishads. Osho's interesting, there are a lot of different stories revolving around him. Anyway, I just loved that title. | |||||||||||
