Sewers , drugs, thugs and shadowy woman
of Waterdeep.
Back in a dreery festhall chamber in Waterdeep:
Juan and Laeral awaited Karranna's friend, then suddenly
he bursted through the 3rd floor window. After speaking to Zed of the matters
at hand, Zed and Juan were teleported to the ally where the gate was at.
In the ally they were assaulted by a couple thugs, but fought them off
easily. Then found the grated entrance to the sewers, and began following
the map Laeral gave them. Then after many minutes of walking through the
sewer corridor, they heard a grate up ahed opening , and saw a slim woman
in a dark cloak entering the sewers. She bore herself a torch and
walked in the direction they were heading! They began to follow her
along their pathway, then after about an half an hour they heard
a noise from behind them...and were surprised to see a darkly colored and
clothed individual bidding them to come back to where he stood. They
said no, and he showed them his harper pin, then they came back to him.
And he said he was Mourn Lhalabar, a friend of Karrannas and a harper
(and you recognize his name as one of the Heroes of the Dark War) , then
he told them to follow him through a side corridor that would lead to a
over hanging balcony of sorts over the chamber they were heading too. It
turns out the harpers were also in on this new drug entering the streets
of Waterdeep (perhaps at the bidding of Khelben who was one
of the Master Harpers, after listening to Learal talk of it??) and Mourn
was going to infiltrate the gangs grotto this evening when he heard them
entering the corridor from behind him. Once he led them almost up to the
balcony he told them to put a black mudlike substance all over their skin,
clothes and weapons...it blocks heat from passing from anything..thus blocking
infravision and also making your harder to see in the shadows of
the underground! Then they reached a large balcony-like over hang
over a large lit chamber full of grey skinned humans in chain
mail armed with many weapons, and a Large 7 foot tall muscular brute
of a human that is speaking to the dark cloaked woman that you can clearly
to see a medium height, muscular (for a girl ; ) ) dark curly haired woman
in plate mail. They seem to be having a heated discussion! Then Mourns
sighs saying she is "Kit, a known bounty hunter, sells sword
and even an assassin as well. But also believe it or not one of the Heroes
of the Dark War." Then Mourn gasps as the brutish man backhands Kit and
she goes tumbling across the room, where she draws her long sword (as
does all 50 or so of the grey skinned humans) and the brute basically side
steps her swing of the sword and backhands her again, this time the
swords was knocked from her hands and the brutish man draws his own two-handed
sword with one hand and just as he raises it to strike the killing blow,
you hear Mourn cursing himself as he pulled a tiny globe from a necklace
he wore under his tunic, and tossed it into the room and dove for cover
as the globe exploded in flames! The aftermath of this was Kit escaped!
But the trio of heroes were captured by magic that the thugs carried! They
were knocked out by a man (the brute) who called himself Morick (he told
them his face and name would the last they would ever hear or see!)
and taken deep into the underdark from a passage in the sewers where they
were placed in a magical cage over a deep seemingly bottomless pit ontop
of a floating disc spell that was gonna wear off at any time!
Luckly Valaria appeared in the chamber from her
invisibility spell ontop of the cage and she rescued them.
However all of their weapons had been taken! Valaria tricked them into
allowing her to teleport them all back to Learals Tower, instead of allowing
Juan and Zed to go tracking down the thugs with their weapons! Once inside
Laerals Tower Valaria revealed her deception, but amongst their angry protest,
Kit was allowed entrance into the chamber bearing with her all of their
weapons (which she had stolen back as repayment for saving her life!).
Then after some fitting jabs and insults both Zed and Kit left the
Arunsen tower to find some inn to do whatever two low-life thugs did when
they were alone together....
Laeral then gave Juan the ring she had promised, thanked him and teleported
him back to ShadowDale where he was told Karranna had left too.
Once again all the companions are reunited
in the Dales, then Lorthois gets a summons to travel into Cormanthyr woods
to Alexius DragonMaws home to speak of an inheritance. They travel
out to her cottage in the woods, and are met by a Slyph and a large assortment
of sprites and pixies whom lead the heroes to Alexiuses cottage...outside
of the cottage they find a large brown bear bathing in a ray of sunlight
and Alexius gardening. She took them inside her home and spoke of an noble
household of Myth Drannor known as the Silvertree family and their history
during the fall of myth drannor, how only one of the two of the houses
babies were able to escape during the Army of Darknesses attack upon
the city and the household! That babe that escaped was a male, and
he was lost for centuries. But after a Baelorn (an elven lich who has made
it their missions in the realms to protect their families vaults and ancient
city) confronted Alexius at her cottage and told her of Lorthois
and his heritage as that long lost baby, Alexius was suddenly under an
oath to give the inheritance over to Lorthois. Which included a fairly
recent map leading to the old Silvertree estates, and also an ancient family
relic...the Rod of Silvertree. Also Alexius introduces and elven ranger
friend that Alexius knew , he was called Daelynn. Daelynn also
knew his way to Myth Drannor and thus was an valueable comrad. Thus he
joins the Heroes company.
Back to Shadowdale the Heroes return to rest the
remaining portion of the day and to set out plans of the next days journey.
Within the Old Skull Inn, a tall Elven woman approaches Karranna, telling
her that she is Islyna and a scholar from CandleKeep...and that she has
decided that a Tome had to be written of the woman known as Karranna. It
was agree'd that she would follow Karranna on her journeys across the Realms,
putting down onto scroll the heroics that the paladin of Mystra performed.
