| 1. Biodiversity-the variety of life on earth 2. Biodiversity boosts ecosystem productivity where each species has an important role. 3. A loss of biodiveristy could lead to extinction of many species. 4. What can we do??? a. Consumers can pollute a lot less. Pollution kills many organisms. b. We can use fewer trees. c. Watch what we eat d. Avoid products made froom or with endangered species 5. Effects on Environment a. Many cures and medicines used by people today come from plants in nature. Many of these plants are endangered. b. Threatened amount of food supplies 6. What can I do? a. I won't waste paper towels - this saves towels, which saves trees, which saves habitats for animals. b. Eat less meat - saves animals' lives c. Not put as much carbon into the atmosphere - carbon kills animals that can't handle the pollution. d. Use cotton towels - they are reusable. 7. Pros a. less amount of invader species b. reduces overpopulation of speices 8. Cons a. may lead to extinction of species b. lower number of orgamisms on the planet |
