When parents begin to accept tattooing, it will be important that the tattoo is forever.  Unlike nail polish or hairstyles, which are temporary ways of revealing your personality, a tattoo is forever.  Thats why its so important that the tattoo you choose be one youll be happy with and proud of for the rest of your life.  Tattooing is a unique and artistic way to show the world what youre all about.(Miller 2)

Whatever the reasons, tattooing, piercing, and other body arts can be very powerful. They give control over ones body and expresses things about the inner self that words alone often cannot articulate.  Permanent body art is a dramatic and artistic way to show the world something about a persons personality.  As parents become more familiar with the rich history and endless variety of tattooing, piercing, and other forms of body modifications, youll see just how creative and meaningful they can be (Miller 5).

After viewing and understanding about tattoos, its easy to see that tattoos are not medically dangerous, socially unaccepted, ugly, a bad habit, and it may have unwanted consequences.  After all, a tattoo is more than a painting on skin; its meaning an reverberations cannot be comprehended without a knowledge of the history and mythology of its bearer.  Thus it is a true poetic creation, and is always more than meets the eye.  As a tattoo is grounded on living skin, so its essence emotes a poignancy unique to the mortal human condition. V. Vale and Andrea Juno, Modern Primitives (DeMello xvi).
