Raytheon Systems Co., Integrated Defense Systems, Sudbury, Mass., is being awarded a $237,999,981 not-to-exceed, firm-fixed-price modification under previously awarded contract (N00024-02-C-5100) for fiscal year 2003 requirements for two U.S. Navy, three Republic of Korea, and one Japanese shipset(s) of the Aegis Weapon System (AWS) OT-188/SPY-1D(V) and MK99 MOD 8 transmitter groups, fire control system, ancillary equipment, data, spares, provisioned item order, provisioning technical documentation and technical manuals. Work will be performed in Sudbury (20%) and Andover, Mass. (80%), and is to be completed by December 2005. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract combines support of the U.S. Navy (27%) and the governments of the Republic of Korea (55%) and Japan (18%) and under the Foreign Military Sales program. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.
Raytheon Electronic Systems, Naval and Maritime Integrated Systems (N&MIS), Sudbury, Mass., is being awarded a $23,349,892 firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-99-C-5387) for six OT-134A Continuous Wave Illuminators, associated spares, technical documentation, training, and engineering services in support of the Missile Fire Control Mechanism Program for the Republic of Korea Navy under the Foreign Military Sales Program. Work will be performed in Sudbury, Mass. (48 percent); Waterloo, Ontario-Canada (42 percent); Chula Vista, Calif. (nine percent) and Andover, Mass., (one percent), and is to be completed by June 2005. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.

Raytheon Systems Company, Portsmouth, R.I., is being awarded a $28,317,556 firm-fixed-price, not-to-exceed, letter contract for the production of six OT-134A continuous wave illuminators (CWI), installation and checkout spares, technical and installation manuals, training, and field engineering services for the Republic of Korea Navy (100%) under the Foreign Military Sales Program. The OT-134A CWI provides the radio frequency energy required for proper operation of the SM-2 IIIA missile guidance system. Work will be performed in Waterloo, Ontario-Canada (43%); Sudbury, Mass. (37%); Portsmouth, R.I. (10%); and Chula Vista, Calif. (10%), and is expected to be completed by June 2005. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was not competitively procured. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Arlington, Va., is the contracting activity (N00024-99-C-5387).

The Department of Defense announced today the possible sale to the Republic of Korea of 12 MK 14 Weapon Direction Systems (WDS), 12 OT-134 Continuous Wave Illumination (CWI) Transmitters, U.S. Government and contractor engineering and logistics personnel services, installation and checkout of spares, installation support, personnel training and training equipment, support and test equipment, spare and repair parts, publications and technical documentation, and other related elements of logistics support. The estimated cost is $214 million.
This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a friendly country which has been and continues to be an important force for political stability and economic progress in Northeast Asia.
The Republic of Korea intends to use the MK 14 WDS and OT-134 CWI transmitters for STANDARD missile fire control (sends launch signal) and post-launch control (controls missile in-flight). Korea will have no difficulty absorbing this support equipment into its armed forces. These are components of the MK-41 STANDARD missile launcher systems that will potentially be installed on indigenously produced naval vessels.
The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not affect the basic military balance in the region.
The principal contractors will be Raytheon Electronic Systems, Wayland, Mass., and Tracor Systems Engineering, Silver Spring, Md. There are no offset agreements proposed to be entered into in connection with this potential sale.
Implementation of this proposed sale will require the assignment of four U.S. Government personnel and 14 contractor representatives in-country to support the program through the development, production and equipment installation phases. The period of time required to be on-site is approximately 14 months.
There will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale.
