What a fabulous film! Director Chris Columbus has made one of the best films of the year and of his career. The cinematography is perfect, the casting couldn�t be better, and the special effects are state-of-the-art. Yes, Harry Potter is back, and better, much better.
On top of the great direction, the music is iconic. John Williams score is memorable and truly magical. The score was great, especially in the end, where the music dominates the scene where Hagrid returns after being held in Azkaban. Also, the Chamber of Secrets scene is really amazing. The set they built for that scene was enormous, with giant snake heads and Salazar Slytherin�s face carved into the wall. The movie is truly faithful to the books, and only small adjustments are made.
One of my favorite lines in Chamber of Secrets was when Harry is in Dumbledore�s office and Dumbledore says, �Our abilities does not show who we truly are, it is our choices.� Aw, that one line Richard Harris made automatically made me fall in love with this movie. Truthfully, after seeing Sorcerer�s Stone, I said that Columbus could never make a better movie than that, but he did.
The only flaw in Chamber of Secrets was the fact that Chris Columbus could have made the movie a little scarier. I think Columbus wanted to keep it light so the box office would be massive, but the movie could have had a darker tone. Even with this flaw, the movie still is one to see. |
