3rd Stanza
Diction:
Within the 3rd stanza the chorus uses the word
secure to again create the tone of being impressed of what man has accomplished. The word secure gives a connotation of confidence and safeness that man has felt in this ode, because they are so mighty that they have no reason to fear anything that comes or blocks their path; they will just find an answer or solution to keep going. In contrast the chorus begins to use the word death which is the other tone in the ode dealing with mans limitations. The word death has a connotation of unstoppable and that is what exactly death is, an unstoppable force.

Imagery:
The image that is created by the words
late wind is a force created by evil. The wind was unexpected and it suddenly hits man and there is nothing man can do about it. It is also referring to the old days because the wind is late and the wind is blowing mans life away leaving man with no strength.

Detail:
The first detail in the 3rd stanza is the word deflects that could mean avoid, or set aside. In the story Creon deflects or ignores the signs from the gods that he is doing the wrong things, but he continues to deflect the signs from above. So the second detail cannot stand refers to Creon not being able to stand up to what he has setup himself to happen.

Metaphors:
Some metaphors in the ode included
rapids as air, arrows of snow, spears of winter which signify the gods wrath upon Creon for his mistakes in his decisions.

Syntax:

One syntax that stands out was the
which signified a new point of view of the story, and in this case the introduction of the choruss tone towards the limitation of man.
