Julian California
On the way out to Junlian there is this way cool school house out in the middle of nowhere. That is my fat-ass next to that bitchen all wood flag pole by the way. The schoolhouse is really small, as the cafeteria is a door labeled "kitchen". It was so innocent that on the Sat. I was there that coats were still hanging on outdoor hooks and clay art pieces were out drying on a table.

Above: This sprawling academic complex is made up of 3 buildings. The largest building sports the vintage school bell and the rest are arranged around this gracefull Koi pond and this eclectic sundial which I had to recalibrate with my foot. The snazzy wagon is just beyond a thoughtful composting area.
Left: Here is the Pioneer cemetary in Julinan. As you can see here it's main entrance has some challenging topography, necessitating the need for line-backer built pallbearers. Still, the terraced areas seem to have the best views and graves. Below: Yup, treading on the graves of fallen pioneers is thirsty work! Here I am enjoying a delicous RedBull energy beverage at the grave of some kid who probably lost his life to his own recklessness. It's easy to be so smug when you're the only living soul in the place.
Left: The grave yard boasts quite a few unique monuments like this pillar which stands about 7 feet tall. I believe this "Daley" fellow was the town butcher. I just liked this other one because there was a dog on it.
Left: Certainly this is not typical architechure in Julian. But it is for Mount Palomar and was a cheaper side trip than the two Casino's looming on Highway 76. This is one of the few times I took the highbrow route as I am usually a sucker for such attractions as the "largest ball of foil this side of the rockies". This of course is the obseratory with the 200" mirror built before WWII. The other view is of Lake Henshaw, which is looking kind of puny these days.
