Welcome to my
Summer Vacation
Homework
   
For my homework I
decided to write about one of the many fun summers we
have had. I must admit that summers in Michigan
are the best, (not the winters except a blizzard
was always exciting) :) We had a cottage on
a lake two hours from our home and my in-laws have a
place up near Mackinaw Island. We would pack
everything up, the kids, dogs, catamaran and head off to
the cottage. When we were at the cottage my
youngest was a non-stop fisherman, my older son loved
riding in his uncles ski boat and our one dog spent his
days diving for rocks in the lake. My husband and
I had a Hobie Cat catamaran (I don't know if they even
exist anymore) but needless to say they are a lot of
fun. We would get up on one pontoon and take off
like crazy. The faster the better. We did
spend al lot of time tipping over, but we could always
flip it back up. Except for this one time!
We tipped over and tried to flip it back up and it would
not budge. The mast had sunk into the bottom of
the lake. It was stuck! It was embarrassing, but
it actually became the entertainment for the day and we
met a lot of nice people who couldn't resist the
challenge of trying to rite the stuck catamaran.
We tried pulling it with boats and jet skis and with
each attempt it moved further up the lake. Then
suddenly we hit a deep spot and to our amazement we were
able to flip it up. We could hear all our
neighbors cheering from the shore as it popped up.
We actually made some good friends from this whole
incident, but what a way to get to know your neighbors.
