From the very beginning Daryl showed exceptional handling skill. She was showing dogs at the tender age of eight years old. She finished her first Champion when she was 12 years old, a Maltese, 
Ch. Martin's Jolly Puff.

Daryl was very active in Junior handling and qualified for Westminster Kennel Clubs annual show several years running.

As Daryl grew older she became an assistant to her mother Rena Martin, who was an exceptional AKC Licensed handler in her own right. Daryl learned the skills of proper presentation, grooming and training at her mothers side. The two traveled together and were a formidable team in the
