Decades have passed since Humanity was smashed in the Fall, and the Twisted Earth is but a blackened shadow of What Once Was. Mutants challenge the remains of Mankind for supremacy, and the poisons that accompanied the Fall have not fully passed from the land. In this ruined landscape, only the strong will survive, and the only the strongest will prosper.

Remote Controlled Halo is a Hunter Company in a RPG campaign based upon the CRPG game Fallout and the Darwin's World RPG, using the Riddle of Steel game system. The buttons to the upper left lead to the campaign log, IC quotes, obits of the dead, and bios of the missing as well as an e-mail address to contact the GM. Below are the descriptions of the active PCs and the decorations they have earned, and to the left are the various statistics on the campaign to date.
Thanks for stopping by, and may the dice always be your friend!

(RC Halo refers to the Company's ability to transition from 'nice guys' to hardcore at the flip of a switch)

                       Captain Jimmy Corgan
(Gunner)
A party-animal and keen musician, Jimmy handles the strategic direction of Halo operations with a steely determination. With a 'faux hawk' and goatee dyed blue, Jimmy looks the definitive Gunner, but he's quite handy with a shotgun as well, although he finally transitioned to an FN FAL. He has obtained a pelican, and has built a band from the Halos. Jimmy loves to dance, but dancing does not love Jimmy.
Jimmy has aquired a genuine Relic Elvis costume which, having been copied, has become a staple of his wardrobe. He has the sideburns as well. In Mountain Home he finally found the guitar he had been searching for his entire life.
He now has three gold teeth from a mutant raider's bullet in the Necropolis.

Quotes: 17
Decorations: Cross of Valor, Jump Wings, four Wound Bars, and one Service Bar.

Cross of Valor: (11-12-150) Jimmy knocked out a massive Altered Mark VII combat borg by hiding in a drainage shaft and slapping a shaped charge onto its vulernable belly as it passed overhead. The personal risk, despite Jinxman charms, was high.

       Quartermaster Andre Griffin
(Chaplain) As the keeper of the purse strings, the provider of rations, and the only black man in the Company, Andre stands apart from the rest; nonetheless, he is popular with his fellows. In town, Andre seeks to raise the people's awareness of what has been Lost, but which Must Not Be Forgotten. For it is only by Remembering and Building Upon the Past can Mankind Rise Again. He plays back-up pelican in the band.
He watches Freddy with some suspicion.
Andre was the first Halo to be decorated and the first to earn the Wound Bar; this came about when he sought to comfort Dee, Blue Duck's demented girlfriend (thinking she was a hostage), and what shot for his troubles.
Andre is currently followed by a pink hover-PDA who addresses him as 'Shirley', but who is learning numerous useful routine processes. He is the first (and only, to date) Halo to have earned the Cross of Gallantry.

Quotes: 10
Decorations: Cross of Gallantry, Order of Excellence, Order of Devotion, Jump Wings, seven Wound Bars, and one Service Bar.
Order of Devotion: (7-8-150) During the heavy street fighting in San Francisco where a detachment of Halos held the line while Thad looted a cache, Andre lined up a perfect shot, sending one .303 FMJ from his Lee-Enfield through the center foreheads of two chargeing Brethren.

Order of Excellence: (12-2-150) In a daring mixture of bluff, lies, and wit, Andre convinced a large band of Ravagers to a two-week truce/withdrawl which prevented a lengthy and bloody seige and allowed the Halos to secure The Holy Weapon.

Cross of Gallantry: (12-4-150) Armed only with a raw (and bloody) twelve-pound haunch of venison wrapped in his shirt, Andre doubled back during the Trials of Clearance and engaged a madened pit bull, saving Thad's life.

Hunter 1st Class Thad Yeoman
(Scav)
The hard-partying Thad is a self-made businessman of considerable enthusiasim. He wears his black hair shoulder-length, as a challenge to scalp-taking Raiders and Tribals.
Thad is the band's manager, a much maligned position, and a heavy gambler, especially on Tony's Pit matches. His interest in strippers and lap dancers does not often distract him from his duties.
Thad was the first Halo to win the Order of Excellence and the Order of Devotion; and was the first Halo to earn two, three, four, and five Orders (and the only, to date, to have earned five). He is also the first Halo to earn ten Wound Bars.
Thad's nose is slightly bent after a Ghoul's head-butt in the Necropolis, and he has shortness of breath from a lung wound in the same ambush that Jimmy lost three teeth.
He is the proud father of
Thad jr. in Kingman's Town, age five months.
Quotes: 4
Decorations: Three Orders of Intellect, Order of Devotion, Order of Excellence, Jump Wings,  eleven Wound Bars, and one Service Bar.
Order of Excellence: (1-29-150) Wounded, and with scores of Ghouls nearby, Thad paused to loot a corpse before allowing himself to be hauled to safety, thus gaining a valuable rifle and needed money for the Company.

Order of Intellect: (3-30-150) Thad came up with a cunning, effective, and low-minded plan to safely lure Jorje out of his gang's club so that the Halos could convince him to leave Rivas and his family alone.
Order of Devotion: (5-30-150) Confronted with the opening stages of a Badger game in The Smooth Bar in north Junkyard, Thad saps his aggressor without even dumping the lap-dancer from his lap. His quick, cool action saved the Halos from potential embarassment.

Order of Intellect: (6-15-150) Thad and Rant came up with a safe, daring method of kidnapping Fat Boy Polk out from beneath the noses of his bodyguards, thus saving themselves considerable risk and enhancing the Company reputation.

Order of Intellect: (11-12-150) Thad concocted the cunning, risky, and complex plan by which a massive Altered Mark VII combat borg was knocked out without loss to the Halos.

Hunter 1st Class Haywood J. Hinkle
(Jinxman)
An escaped slave (now legally free) from the Clean Water Clan, Haywood is a distracted man at the best of times; when not carving bonds or working on the products of his craft, Haywood wanders, picking up bits and pieces of Relics and natural material. How much goes into his creations, and how much he gathers just to have, is unclear. Tall and wiry, his person is cluttered with half-etched charms, unfinished totems, and odd items which caught his eye; his hair is patchy and uneven, hacked off with a knife whenever a portion grows long enough to distract him.
Haywood is the band's drummer, mainly because he looks the part, and its primary driver & mechanic. The Jinxman has proven to be a bit trigger-happy with Shock totems.  A necklace of Wolfen teeth is a momento of the Modena fight.
Haywood was the first Halo to earn an Order, and the first to win the Order of Intellect, the Order of Honor, and the Cross of Valor.
Quotes: 5
Decorations: Order of Intellect, Order of Honor, Senior Jump Wings, fourWound Bars, and one Service Bar.

Order of Intellect: (1-29-150) With the Halos cornered in a Mall by a horde of Ghouls, Haywood came up with a cunning plan which extracted the Company and its critical transport to safety.
Cross of Valor: (4-16-150) In the midst of a Finder attack that had already critically wounded five Halos, Haywood raced around the Finder as it was changing weapons and thrust a Shock totem into the exit wound of a .45-70 round fired by Damon. The totem finished off the Finder; but for Haywoods daring, risky, and innovative action, several Halos would have died.

Order of Honor: (6-15-150) Thad and Rant came up with a safe, daring method of kidnapping Fat Boy Polk, and Haywood's expert useage of his skills made it possible.

Combat Cross: (6-28-150) While climbing limbing out of the Great Rifte Valley, Haywood dropped (knocked it off its footing) a Dust Spinner with one (charm enhanced) pistol shot. While the bullet did not kill it, the fall certainly did.

Order of Honor: (9-21-150) Haywood's quick thinking and broad base of skills allowed the Halos to avoid a second wave of Bugs in the bank-loot by createing 'bug armor', which when coupled with the captured musk, hid the Halos.
Order of Excellence: (10-8-150) When Rant was overwhelmed by a horde of mutated rats during the Pit Fight in the Necropolis, it was Haywood's quick thinking that saved him. Detaching the wood holster-stock from his Mauser pistol, the Jinxsman used it to drive most of the rats off.

Hunter 1st Class Ed the Adequate
(Jinxman)
Of average build and height, this escaped slave (from the Clean Water Clan, now free) casts a melencoly figure, prone to long, defeated sighs and dour predictions uttered in a monotone deviod of hope. He wears his hair cut in a burr and shaves as often as he can, mainly to avoid having to take care of his hair, rather than for any militant reason. He joined the Halos in Socorro on 1-5-150, and remains bitter that he is junior in gear allocation to Bo-Bo, although he has named Bo-Bo as his sole heir. Ed has adopted Wuffles after the Halos killed Tom, Wuffles' previous owner; Wuffles has had a positive impact upon the gloomy Jinxman.
  Ed married
Yuvonne Dulay after a whirlwind romance in Socorro.
Decorations: Combat Cross, Order of Honor, Wound Bar, and one Service Bar.
Combat Cross: (7-8-150) During the Exile Fight, with 2/3rds of the Company out of action, Ed wired up his trusty 4" S&W .38 and dropped the massive mutant in its tracks (partially crushing Thad).
Order of Honor: (12-4-150) In the final match of the Clearance Challenge, Ed faced and defeated three tribals, enduring numerous hits, before finally being taken out (and suffering a rather bad beating thereafter). His heroic stand allowed Rant enough room to make a mad broken-field run to the goal post.

    Hunter 1st Class Damon Caine
(Photo-hog)
Taller than Ed, Damon joined with the dour Jinxman on 1-5-150. An aspiring photographer, Damon sketched madly when first with the Halos, trying to capture on paper those things he longed to photo; finally, on the Company's second visit to Kingman's Town, he aquired a basic camera, and has since put together just about a full package of gear.
Damon wears a practical buzz cut and a Fu Manchu mustache in best 'hog fashion.
Quotes: 3
Decorations: Combat Cross, Jump Wings, six Wound Bars, and one Service Bar.

Combat Cross (3-20-150): Damon dropped a huge adult Rock Rutter in its tracks with a single (Sharps .52-80) shot, which was exceedingly fortunate, as a Deathclaw was attacking the rearguard at the same moment, and the 'big gun' was badly needed.

                    Hunter 1st Class Bo-Bo
(Bear) A plush Relic teddy bear the Halos aquired between Socorro and Seama, Bo-Bo was voted in as a Hunter to prevent there being exactly nine Company members.
Decorations: Service Bar

Wuffles
(Dog)
A small wire-haired terrier (mostly), Wuffles was adopted by Ed after the Halos killed his previous owner. The little dog (in a handsome sweater), has easily kept up with the Company, and raises Ed's usually morose spirits.

Master at Arms Friedhelm 'Freddy' Immelmann
(Regulator)
The first Halo who was not from the Socorro area, Freddy was recruited in Kingman's Town on 2-23-150. The blue-eyed, and blond (who gave up his 'high & tight' for a mullet & Elvis sideburns on Box's recommendation) Tribal looks the part of a Regulator. Once taken in by Jaybushers and Redeemed by an unknown Gunner, Freddy has devoted his life to killing mutants. Andre was the first non-white person he has ever met, and it has been the first of many new experiences for the Halo.
The SAW gunner for the Company, Freddy lugs a M249 and plenty of drums. Freddy plays washtub bass in the band; the parinoid Regulator wears a hold-out pistol in a sleeve-spring on each arm which has saved his life three times already (on the Great 15, south of Calico, at a toll bridge west of Calico, and during the Modena fight), and other hidden weapons. He has a nasty scar across his scalp from a Brethren's Crinsom Claw in the sewers beneath San Francisco.
Freddy became the second Master at Arms after Bullet-Tooth Tony retired in mid-September 150.
  Freddy's wife,
Olga Immelmann, is an interesting addition to the Halos.
Quotes: 6
Decorations: Jump Wings, nine Wound Bars, and one Service Bar.

Hunter 1st Class Buster 'Rant' Casey
(Scribe)
A former Far Trader slave now legally free, Rant joined up at Needles on 4-12-150. He hopes that his experiences serving with a Hunter company will give him the raw material with which to write The Great American Novel. If pressed, Rant will be forced to admit he is unclear on what that means, but he's confident he can find out, especially since he has obtained several novels, including The Catcher in the Rye, and The Grapes of Wrath. The fact that produce features heavily in Great Novels has been a difficult concept for him to grasp.
Rant has two dubious claims to fame within the Haloes: until the Arvin fight, he had been taken out in every firefight without ever getting a shot off, and he was the first Halo to be hit by full-auto gunfire.
He is currently studying the medical arts under Haywood, and serves as the Halo lawyer. He is visibly scarred from an attack by a horde of mutated rats in the Pit Fight in the Necropolis.
Quotes: 2
Decorations: Order of Intellect, Jump Wings, ten Wound Bars.

Order of Intellect: (6-15-150) Thad and Rant came up with a safe, daring method of kidnapping Fat Boy Polk out from beneath the noses of his bodyguards, thus saving themselves considerable risk and enhancing the Company reputation.
Order of Excellence: (9-5-150) Awarded for Rant's dogged and extensively prepared defense of the Halos against the Clean Water accusation of kidnapping, tried in Kingman Town by the Rangers.

Hunter 2nd Class Lincoln 'Ell' Ford Mercury
(Ranger) Recruited on 9-15-150 in Styx, Ell is rumored to be a none-too-subtle Ranger plant in the wake of the Clean Water trial. The addition of an Asian Halo has once again caused confusion for Freddy. So far, Ell has proven willing and reasonably capable, if a bit finicky about blood.
Ell is the son of Ford Mercury (A Ranger Captain) and Nadia Alto Mercury, and raised in the area of Styx. His father's fondness for hunting and blood sports had an unfortunate effect on his son, leaving Ell with a severe distaste for blood and bodily fluids, to the point where he is a terrible medic and largely useless with a knife.
A deeply honorable man in addition to being an adherant of the Ranger Code, Ell has definate views on what constitutes proper behavior, and will back those up with force if need be.
Quotes: 5
Decorations: Three Wound Bars.

The Aftermath

Jimmy: Jimmy has activated Box, as it is time to find his Priscilla. He is opening the Acoustic Cafe (a TB-12 waystation), and working on a solo album, The Jimmy Corgan Experience.
Andre: Andre settles on & develops his land near Bazaar, and lends a hand with the URC.
Thad, Ed, and Yuvonne: The trio set off to open a casino, which should give Thad grounds to challenge his son's mother for custody.
Haywood: Surprisingly, Haywood gives up the Jinxman ways, and has settled in as a carpenter in Bazaar, spending his free time attempting to learn as much Old Tech as he can.
Damon: Damon sets off on his own; with his savings and TB-12's bonus, he plans to devote himself to the photo-hog way of life.
Freddy: The CEO of the United Regulator Conglomrate devotes himself to establishing the organization's headquarters in Bazaar.
Rant: Employed as the URC's chief legal advisor, Rant is collecting books and attempting to write his first novel, The Ride of the Halos. He offers free literacy classes to all who are interested.

Ell: Returning to basic Rangering duties, Ell is considered a shoo-in for Ranger Corporal soon.

In honor of the Halo stand and the ten Regulators who died there, the Regulator World Series is thereafter held on March 16th in Needles. The ten events are each named for one of the fallen (event ten is a foot race).
In the summer and fall of 151 the Savant Empire ceased its outward expansion, and clashes between Savant patrols and Doomriders were reported.
