Here is the guts of the story.
Well, after a few years of just having Ricey (Dave) and Dallas riding around the Darwin area, a few months ago Ricey decided to try to get all the Darwin Royal Enfields on a run. He actually conned our first Darwin Enfield owner, Creeky, to take on the role of Ride Captain.
In the end we had 4 Royal Enfield Bullets and a BMW R1200GS. (One of our mates wanted to come for a ride with us).
We rode about 45km from Darwin down the Stuart Highway to the Noonamah pub and had a beer or two. Then we rode via a couple of back roads to the famous Humpty Doo pub where we had a couple of beers and a feed. Then it was back to Darwin via the Arnhem and Stuart Highways. Probably a round trip of 100km with no problems.
The Bikes were Ricey’s Madaan Motors G2 Bullet 500 with right hand shift. Paul (Robbo/Karaoke) Roberts Madaan Motors G2 Bullet 500 which Ricey sold to Dallas and he then sold to Robbo. Dallas' 2005 Bullet 500 Classic and Bob Creek’s old Bullet 350 which he imported from Madaan's a long time ago and has more rust than metal but still goes. (and, of course, our friend, The General’s, BMW)
We decided to call ourselves the Darwin Stray Bullets. Since that time we have recruited JoAnne Gardiner, an Airport Firie whose Bullet has just arrived from India after a wait of about 18 months.
Recently, Robbo has recruited Julie Fairless who has come to work in Darwin after a couple of years in India. Julie owns a new Machismo and is trying to import it into Darwin.
