Playstation Games
On Your Dreamcast??!!

Some of you know or heard about Bleem! for the PC which lets you play Playstation games on your computer. Who would've thought that the new Bleem! (dubbed the Bleemcast!) would let you play Playstation games on your Dreamcast!

Bleemcast! will not only let you play PS games on the DC, it will significantly improve the graphics, rendering them at higher resolutions, anti-aliasing and bi-linear filtering. The "Bleempacks", sets of CD's each allowing 100 games in a specific genre (ie. Fighting, Driving, Sports, etc.), will be priced at a $19.95 MSRP. This allows for each update of a CD to be genre specific. The trouble with Bleem! for the PC was that each updating codes for a specific game often made other games faulty or lose audio or grpahical quality...or ultimatly not work at all. The release date for the first Bleempacks should be around early to mid summer, with updated versions to follow later on. As an added bonus, Bleemcast! will let you also play import games (no you thieves, copied or "back up" CD's will not work because Bleem! doesn't promote pirating).

Bleem! is also scheduled to release special Playstaion type controllers as well as an adapter that will let you use the existing Sony Playstation controllers on the Dreamcast. Fear not, you can still use the DC controllers and Bleem! will recognize it and will allow the controller to function like a PS controller by using button combinations for certain functions (due to the missing two extra buttons found on the Playstation). It's not known if a PS Memorycard adapter will be made, but the Dreamcast VMU will still work.

Imagine that. Everyone saying how the PS2 is backwards compatible doesn't have much to say now that the Dreamcast can also play Playstation games. The difference between the 2 is the Bleemcast! will use all the DC's special graphical enhancements to really let the PS games shine, while the PS2 will use limited graphical enhancemants. I for one can't wait for Bleemcast! to be released.

Take a look at these comparisons!
