I play the ukulele.  every once in a while I play a concert in the underground music scene in Pittsburgh, PA.

after performing in bands like Flapdragon and Rehabilitated Wolf-Child, I performed solo for the very first time on July 13, 2003, at the Oakdale Community Center.  Oakdale is a tiny, tiny place, and it was very easy to drive right past it.  the crowd there was mostly other bands, but it was not very receptive.  I kept hearing questions like, "Is this guy serious??"  The answer, of course... is a resounding
NO.
Any time you see a tall white guy with glasses playing "raspberry beret" on the ukulele in a hawaiian shirt that says "Fresh & Hot," it is very safe to assume that he (like myself) is not too serious.  The highlights of the show were definitely the impromptu collaborations.  the bongo/congo player from Royal ("151 before a show... bad idea!") joined me on stage to give me a beat to rap "Lodi Dodi" over, and The Rube helped me out with AC/DC's "Back in Black"

I sold two cds that night, which was two more that i expected to sell.  many thanks to the guitarist from Royal and the other guy who bought my cd.
here now is an online exclusive... it is an instrumental version of "Devil's Haircut"  The version with words is on the cd. I love Beck.  download here
if you want more info about the cd, e-mail me.  they're only 5$.

i just got word that the above 7-13-03 concert was videotaped, so i could have some still shots and audio from that up relatively soon.  good news for the Eric Frankenberg completists (two of them do exist):  you'll also be able to buy the 7-13-03 concert, too (even though i'll probably just give it to you two as a present for all your love & support. many thanks & much love, ashlee & krista).  Someone taped the 8-23-03 show, but i'm not sure where he is.
-i owe a thousand thank-you's to the lovely XXXmas, Colin's special pornstar of a girlfriend for letting me play, even though i drove most of the crowd out of the show.
"why not monkey!?"
hey... many thanks also due to katie for letting me play on August 23, 2003 at the Crafton K of C ("Try that shit again Zack!").  also to natalie for suggesting to katie that i play and also to One Size Fits All for breaking up onstage in the middle of their third song and pretty much forcing me to go on.
