Socks, in-progress:
Here are my second pair of socks & various materials.  The orange is for reinforcing the heels & toes & the blue is for a second paiir of socks to incorporate the left over autumn-leavesish heather yarn. (I bought 2 100gr skeins to make sure that I would have enough... but there will be quite a lot  extra) I only have about half an inch left before turning the heel.  I am very excited about these fine gauge cotton/wool socks.  I think they will be very soft and not too hot for the summer-time.  I have completed all this in just three days, without even doing any marathon/power knitting sessions. I really like the manageability of socks as a school-year project.  & I love to knit for the receipient of these socks, as I love him!
And here is a detail of the cuff.  It's 7.5 inches long in this picture.  It's knit on size two needles with 72 stitches cast on. (I am loosely following this pattern.)  The stitch pattern for the cuff & instep is a 2x2 ribbing, so it will be a good fit & should stay up.  There is a lot of stretch room in these socks; but they feel nice and snuggy.
Here's the latest installment in the sock-saga... I've finished turning heel #1!
Ta da! Here's the first of the pair, finished.
