Here's an excerpt about myself from a novel or book I will never write.  You know, that writing of the inside of a cover about the author?   Here's what mine might look like:

Darrin J. Chen is currently a computer programmer for Intel Corporation in Folsom, California.  Born and raised by immigrant parents in Toronto, Canada, Darrin proved his savvy in programming at an early age by playing with his father's programmable HP RP calculator.  He and his family moved to the United States at age 13 for more economic opportunities and to be closer to the rest of the extended family in California.  Although interested in programming in high school, Darrin took to his father's occupation at the advice of his family and focused in on civil engineering and structural design.  He graduated from the University of California at Davis (UC Davis) in 1995 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and looked forward to working in the transportation industry.

After graduating from college, he found the economy still struggling in the civil engineering sector and looked to other opportunities. Intel saw his determination and raw potential as a programmer and hired him on immediately after graduation.  Over the years, Darrin became self taught in web graphic design, PERL programming, and HTML coding, where he has been able to successfully develop the skills offered in this book.  Darrin is now pursuing a project management career at Intel and he is in the middle of obtaining his Masters of Business of Administration at UC Davis.

Darrin enjoys roller hockey, snowboarding, and tries to travel outside of California atleast once a year.  He is in a long-term relationship with his girlfriend named Kristen, and currently resides in the Greenhaven area of Sacramento, California with three other computer geek roommates who have a thing for Game Day 98.

Okay, that was pretty cheesy.  And no, I was never computer savvy before the age of 13, and no, I never programmed anything until high school.  Oh, and if you still don't get it, I never wrote a book, much less a 15 page paper, in my life.  Otherwise, the rest of the blurb is true.  The only addendum I'd add is the fact that a good friend, John Nguyen got my foot in the door at Intel and that I owe alot of graditude to him for that fact.

More to come later....
