Savage Garden consist of two men, Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones. Darren is the lead singer, and the main publicist/spokesperson for the band. Daniel stays mainly in the background, and he writes most of the music for the band, as well as playing it and backup vocals.
So how did Savage Garden meet?
Savage Garden first met when Darren answered an ad. At that point, Daniel was in a less successful band. He was told that basically he had the music, he just needed a voice to make it work. He put an ad in the paper, Darren answered it and bang! Savage garden were formed.
They first made their debut in 1996 with To the Moon and Back. It was an instant hit. I Want You soon followed. Since then, the band has become a phenomenal success.
The question they are asked most commonly is: "Where did they get the name Savage Garden from?" The answer is Ann Rice. It is actually from a quote from the book "Interview with a vampire" The quote is "The world is like a Savage Garden." If the guys hadn't read the book, they would be called Bliss, The original name for the group.
