Xavier's Estate: The X-Men's base of operations is the Xavier Mansion located at 1407 Graymalkin Lane in Salem Center, in Westchester County, New York state. the great house was originally built by a Duch ancestor of Xavier, using stone from the edge of a nearby Breakstone Lake. The entire Xavier estate covers a considerable area, from Graymalkin Lane to Breakstone Lake, whisch is also known as the Neversink Reservoir. There is an Olympic-size swimming pool directly behind the mansion, and the grounds include stables, a boathouse and docks, and even hangers and a takeoff pad for the X-Men's Blackbird Jet. Xavier's Mansion: < The Floors Of The Mansion > The mansion orginally consisted of two main floors, an attic, and a basement. In recent years, two subbasement levels have been constructed as well. Most classes are held in Xavier's vast library. He conducts school business from his second floor office, and he also has a study, where the main termainal of the Cerebro computer system is installed. The main computer room is also on the second floor, as is the kitchen. Also the second floor is almost entirely devoted to the X-Men's living quarters. The Danger Room: The center of Xavier's training program for mutants is the Danger Room, where the X-Men hone their athletic and combat skills. The original Danger Room was located on the second floor of Xavier's namsion. Within the room, the X-Men would in effect run a high-tech obstacle course, contending against anything and everything from metal tentacles to jets of flame to robots. Xavier's relationship with Lilandra, ruler of the alien Shi'ar empire, led to his creation of a radical new version of the Danger Room concept. The current Danger Room is located on the subbasement level two of the mansion, and emplys Shi'ar technology. Through the use of solid holograms (images created with lasers), the Danger Room can now simulate any environment. Moreover, Shi'ar technology can creat a whole range of formidable adversaries for the X-Men to thest themselves against. Redesigned Danger Room: The Danger Room underwent its first renovation when Xavier organized his second generation of X-Men. Xavier could monitor and control its operations from the safety of an observation booth. By now he was pitting his students against sophisticated robots in combat training. With so many things happening in such a small space, the odd near miss happens frequently. Holographic Danger Room: Utilizing the futuristic technology of the Shi'ar Empire, Professor Xavier redesigned the Danger Room to create effects far beyound the capabilities of Earth science. Now he can test the X-Men's battle prowess by using holograms to mimic any potentially dangerous setting or adversary he or they can imagine. For instance, the Danger Room can creat a solid hologram of Wolverine's archenemy, Sabertooth, for him to battle, thus perfecting his fighting skills. War Room: Global information is collected by computers in the War Room, located on the same level as the Danger Room. These computers scan for specific data that may be important to the X-Men. Danger Room: A product of Shi'ar technology, and recently improved on by Forge, the Danger Room generates apparently solid, realistic imagery by manipulating high-resolution foce fields and holograms. Four high-capacity Shi'ar computers generate room-filling, 32-bit color images at 300Gb / second. the force-field resolution is on the order of 16 cubic centimeters. the Danger Room is mounted in a "zero-grav" field which resists all induced motions for any user. |
