| Haughton finally got there campaign off to a winning start with a 3-1 victory over the City of Salford. Haughton started the match slowly and Salford took there chances and took the first set 25-22. Haughton started the second set with confidence and raced to an early lead. They maintained the lead throughout the set and took it 25-20. In the third set Haughton started to show the form that brought them promotion last year. Haughton were now high in confidance and too the third set with ease 25-17. In the forth set the match continued in the favour of Haughton but Salford dug deep and looked as though they might take the game to a fifth set. It wasn't to be Haughton for the first time this season took the fourth set 25-22 much to the delight of all the Haughton players. Ryan Pritchard and Gary Day both had exceptional matched along with Iain Buckle who took the man of the match award |
