Plea For Help With Finding Darlene's Murderer
News Segment on KCFW 9 Kalispell News

We're talking about the murder of
Darlene Wilcock, The 26 year old woman
found strangled to death in a Kalispell motel.  Today police said they are getting close to breaking this case.  They even feel like they've talked to the killer but still no resolution for a family desperately seeking closure.

It's really hard to move on especially here in this valley because everybody knows what happened to her, "said Darlene's sister, Diane Wilcock.  Darlene Wilcock was a 26-year-old truck driver, who loved her job.  but her life was cut short on April 17, 2003 when her body was found at Kalispell's Motel 6.  She'd been strangled.  Police believe she knew her killer.

Police also think they know who the killer is but they need one more piece of evidence to narrow down a small group of suspects and make an arrest.  "We believe there is an individual out there who has information about somebody in that very small group and that's what the focus of our investigation is right now,"  said Kalispell Police Chief, Frank Garner.

One "person of interest" all along has been Dick Dasen Senior, the Kalispell businessman now in jail for operating a meth-for-sex prostitution ring.  DNA from Dasen's semen was identified on bed sheets in the room where Darlene was found but nothing else links him to Darlene.

So, police continue to go through binders packed with court documents and lab test results plus video tapes and DVD's with more than 100 interviews, turning over every rock.

The family has put up fliers as they work to solve the murder.  They've also written letters to "America's Most Wanted" about Darlene's case.  But so far no interest has been shown from the show.  There's also been little interest from the public on the Web site the family set up for Darlene in her memory and hoping that someone would read it and leave a tip on it.
"Don't be afraid. IF IT HAS TO BE ANONYMOUS, it can be.  Just anything,  if you know something and aren't saying , just say it," said Darlene's mom, Marla Friske.

Now police are still taking tips on this case.
