| Mikey Walsh (Sean) and his band of friends who call themselves the "Goonies" are desperate to find a way to save thier houses from becoming a golf course. They find a treasure map belonging to one of the most fierce pirates ever, "One-Eyed" Willy. Many have gone looking for "One-Eyed" Willy's treasures but none have been successful. The boys are determined to set out to find it when they bump into the Fratelli family who are wanted by the law for counterfeiting and probably for escaping from prison. The Fratelli's discover the "Goonies" plans and try to beat them to the booty. This happens to be my favorite movie of all time allthough it is an editing nightmare, the movie is well known for it's numerous editing errors. The movie won the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films award in the category of Best Supporting Actress - Anne Ramsey and was nominated in the category of Best Performance by a Younger Actor - Jeff Cohen. In the Young Artist Awards, Sean Astin won in the category of Best Starring Performance by a Younger Actor - Motion Picture and the movie received nominations in the categories of Best Family Motion Picture - Adventure, Exceptional Performance by a Young Actor - Motion Picture - Jeff Cohen, Exceptional Performance by a Young Actor - Motion Picture - Corey Feldman and Exceptional Performance by a Young Actress - Motion Picture - Martha Plimpton. The movie was first released on June 7, 1985. | |||||||||||||||||||
