| I hate war movies but this is one of the BEST war movies I've ever seen. Denzel Washington plays a Lieutenant Colonel who is assigned to find out what really happened to Captain Karen Walden, who died during a mission. He interviews 3 of her crewmen who all give a different account of what happened that day. It is up to him to get down to the truth to find out if she really deserves the honor of being the first female recipient. The movie won the ASCAP Film and Television Music Award for Top Box Office Films - James Horner; won the Blockbuster Entertainment Award - Favorite Supporting Actor in an Adventure/Drama - Lou Diamond Phillips; won the Image Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Motion Picture - Denzel Washington; was nominated by the Image Awards for Outstanding Motion Picture and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture - Regina Taylor; won the Lone Star Film & Television Award for Best Actor - Denzel Washington, Best Director - Edward Zwick, Best Film, Best Screenplay - Patrick Sheane Duncan, and Best Supporting Actor - Lou Diamond Phillips; and won Southeastern Film Critics Association Awards' SEFCA Award for Best Actor - Denzel Washington. The movie was released on July 12, 1996. | |||||||||||||
