She Has Been There

I was having a rough time
Facing the fear of being left alone
On a far away secluse island
Just black and white; no shade of grey
When you told me these wanted words
"I've been there, I know how it is
when the only thing that you
can control is what you eat."
I turn my head and think
"There's the person who has been there"
The person who I thought of least
Who now I don't take for granted
I think of her as my friend forever
She has been there but soon realize
That some pieces of the puzzle are missing
Those wanted words go back through my mind
I say to you and forever hold my peace
"I eat too much, I take laxatives
I starve for a few days then the cycle begins
I can't control my eating, not like you have"
The meaning hangs in the misty air
Blocking our judgment of different worlds
I am back to the beginning of the end
Knowing I am in an unstoppable cycle
Saying out loud to the inner voices, mine
That you have been there once
And was successful at being in control
Something I sadly cannot do
She has been there, but not where I am trapped
