| 18 years old and already jaded What remains of her childhood has already faded Forced to grow up way too fast She tries to move on and forget her past But those painful thoughts won't leave her now She tries to run, but doesn't know how They start to flood back through her brain She tries not to give into the pain Her mind returns to an earlier time of recess, picture books, and nursery rhymes hair cut short, kids tease and laugh plant roots of depression that will lead to a crash 11 years old, growing up fast her remaining happiness would not last Mom and Dad split, world torn apart They said it would be a brand new start Dad remarried, Mom out of state She tries to remember, but it's already too late Dad's wife is a cruel and controlling bitch He stays with her though, because she is rich They made her life a living hell All alone in the world, no one to tell She finally decides she can't take anymore She moves to her Mom's, to even the score 17 years old, Dad moved away Life gets harder every day Senior year, on the brink of her life and so many causes for all of her strife She works at a local fast food chain Her back is bad, gives her lots of pain Few people stick around to be her friend looking at the sky, she wishes for an end 18 years old, college girl now She's made it this far, but she doesn't know how Most of her friends have left her behind She thought things would change, but no one is kind People say she is desperate, weak for affection But she has never had that kind of attention So she lives her life, a loner forever Hoping that things, someday, will get better |
