About Darkwood Consort
Darkwood Consort was founded in 1992 by bass clarinet specialist Alan Nielsen. As an ensemble that presents a seven-century repertoire with distinctly modern instrumentation, Darkwood's programs have included works by strikingly diverse composers such as Landini, Mozart, and Buffy Sainte-Marie. Yet, listeners have found this audacity to be quickly elevated by Darkwood's accessible delivery of seemingly divergent material. As a result, the Consort has become a fixture in the arts community in Southwestern Idaho. Darkwood has made several television appearances, entertained numerous regional to international dignitaries, and sponsored and performed in events for many arts and/or cultural organizations, including the * Boise Early Music Society * Idaho Shakespeare Festival * Boise Art Museum * Medieval Society of Southwestern Idaho * Scandinavian Society of Southwestern Idaho |
